Galvanic Games Shuts Down Amid Financial Struggles, CEO Reflects on Team's Journey

Galvanic Games, known for Wizard with a Gun, announces the studio's closure.
While many of the layoffs we've witnessed in 2024 have come from large corporations reducing or resizing teams, smaller, independent groups have also faced repercussions from the ongoing crisis. Galvanic Games stands as the most recent example.
The developers behind the recently released Wizard with a Gun announced the closure through a social media announcement. Patrick Morgan, the CEO and founder, explained that the game's sales since its launch in October 2023 have not been sufficient to keep the team in operation. He also mentioned that a potential subsidiary deal with DICE, discussed during the Game Developers Conference, failed to materialize.
Reflecting on the situation, Morgan expressed his sentiments, noting the irony of spending a decade building an ideal team only to see it disband after their most productive year. He praised the extraordinary effort, creativity, and dedication each team member contributed.
Additionally, Morgan has put together a list of LinkedIn profiles to help his team members transition to other studios.
