Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 7: Major Updates and Modding Support Set to Launch Soon

This week marks an exciting moment for fans of Baldur's Gate 3, as Patch 7 is set to launch on PC. Larian Studios has officially announced this eagerly anticipated update, much to the delight of players. The news was delivered during the 'Baldur's Gate 3 Retrospective' panel at PAX West, where studio head Swen Vincke shared that the patch will be available in just a few days.

The upcoming patch is said to include substantial modding support, emphasizing the importance of the modding community in enhancing the game. Vincke noted that Larian is focusing on collaborating with mod creators to officially support their work. There's also an intention to implement cross-platform modding support, although Vincke indicated that this poses technical challenges since it must function seamlessly on both console and PC platforms.

While a specific release date remains unconfirmed, it has been made clear that the patch will debut on PC first. Larian is taking additional time to prepare the update for PS 5, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. The studio reassured fans on X / Twitter that, despite the delay for consoles and Mac, players will soon be able to engage fully with new features and modifications. During the announcement, Vincke addressed the console rollout, explaining that the PC version will lead the way.

The console editions will follow, requiring time to navigate submission processes and address any issues that may arise, ensuring a smooth experience for players. Patch 7 is expected to be the last significant update for Baldur's Gate 3, introducing a plethora of enhancements and gameplay fixes. Players can look forward to additional evil endings for Dark Urge, complete with fresh cinematics, a dynamic split-screen mode, improvements to every Origin character, and the official modding toolkit. Furthermore, Larian is actively developing crossplay and a photo mode, although the timeline for these features remains uncertain.
